Change is in the air…and so is Spring!
It feels like spring! The weather has been wonderful the last several days. It even reached 70 degrees today! We have been taking advantage and getting out as much as we can. Not only are we excited to be welcoming warmer weather, we are also excited to be welcoming so many changes for our family! In true Sam and Megan fashion, we shoot for all the big changes in just a few months time instead of doing one thing at a time.
The first big change was welcoming Freya into our family! Things are going so well with her, she fits right in! The kids are doing great with her too. Having a puppy is a lot of work but we know it is short lived. I think we are all excited for her to grow out of the chewing stage! We have loved getting her out hiking and trips to the beach. She absolutely loves the water! We took Freya up the peninsula to Point No Point. A great sandy beach to let her off leash and burn some energy. The kids enjoyed the driftwood there as usual so it was a win for everyone!
Sam and I have both had major changes in our jobs. Sam has gone back to work full time and also doing his drone business on the side. I quit my full time job and I am now staying home with the kids. I am still picking up a few hours of work each week after the kids are in bed. It has been such a huge transition for our family. Sam has been the stay at home parent since Odin was born 4 years ago. I feel incredibly blessed that we are able to make it work to have one parent at home with the kids. Sam has been feeling ready to go back to work and I had been feeling incredibly burnt out with my work schedules. It’s amazing how things work out. So far the change is going well but there is still some adjustment happening as we figure out our new normal! Thankfully our schedules still allow us for lots of opportunities to do the things we love! We are still able to get out for hikes and time at the beach. I can still make play dates with our friends and Sam can still meet up with his friends to fly drones!
Sam’s brother has been out to visit us twice now. On his last visit it was confirmed that he will be moving out to the Kitsap Peninsula this spring! He will be staying with us for a few months as he gets settled in and looks for housing. We have less than 2 months to finish up the flooring in our house, and a few other smaller projects before he arrives! We are really excited to have family out here now! We absolutely love living here and are thankful we made the move but sometimes it can be really hard being 1,700 + miles away from the closest family member. We have made great friends here and that helps a lot. We do have a support system here but not the same as family! We are looking forward to having Aaron in the area and having him join us on some of our adventures. I am pretty confident he is going to love it here! He has really enjoyed his time here when we visits. The video is from his last visit when Sam and him hiked Lower Lena lake in the Olympic National Forest. Low quality picture below, but high quality memories!
So thankful for a smooth transition for Sam and I as we change roles. And also for the kids as they continue to adjust to this change!
On to the next adventure…
