Pumpkin Patch
We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch this past week. Last year was our first time visiting Hunter Farms in Union, WA. It is a family owned farm that has been operating since 1889! They raise fresh crops, timber, flowers, vegetables, hay and cattle. They are also well known for their Christmas trees and fresh wreaths that are available during the holiday season. Of course the pumpkin patch is a fall favorite. The last Saturday of October they even host a trebuchet competition for nearby high schools. With just a $5 entry fee and unlimited hay wagon rides you can easily spend half a day having good family fun! We enjoyed a quiet, foggy morning checking out the farm animals, running through the hay maze and taking a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch. We were the only people out in the patch in the morning so it was fun letting the kids run around and pick out their pumpkins! The kids ended up picking some huge pumpkins! Odin picked the biggest pumpkin and Aspen’s came in a close second.
Tractor ride back to the barn to weigh our pumpkins! Odin was pretty excited for a tractor ride, even though it was a green tractor. His favorite are the red and orange tractors. He did point out that Grandpa Bunde has much bigger tractors in Minnesota!
Taking the pumpkins to the scale. Odin is pulling the pumpkins he and Aspen picked. When we took the pumpkins to be weighed, our four pumpkins totaled 159 pounds!! It is going to be no easy task carving these gigantic pumpkins!
There were 3 huge wagons full of pumpkins. They loved sitting with all the pumpkins. It was crazy how many pumpkins they had piled in these wagons.
The kids got to see goats, pigs, chickens, lamas, peacocks and rabbits. Climbing hay bales and going through the hay maze was lots of fun too! Odin’s favorite part was “Riding the tractor and picking out the BIGGEST pumpkin!”. He was tickling Aspen trying to get her to smile – it worked!
Keeping an eye on those Chickens!!
So thankful to be starting family traditions in Washington! Already looking forward to our 3rd annual trip to Hunter Farms!
On to the next adventure…
This looks soooo fun!! Jaidyn has watched your video 4 times already and wants to watch it again!! 🙂
I’ve been loving the fog lately and it adds an extra fun element at the pumpkin patch. Love this!
Thanks! I agree it does. I love the foggy mornings!
