Ocean Shores
Ocean shores is a small coastal city about 2.5 hours from Bremerton. It is a cute town with lots of local shops, restaurants, drive through coffee huts and views of the ocean. We spent 3 days and 2 nights in the area. We camped at Ocean City State Park. You could hear the ocean from our campsite and it was just a short walk down to the beach. Camping was such a big part of my childhood. It is awesome to be able to share that with my own kids! Though I wish tent walls were a little thicker sometimes! Although we always have late nights while in the tent due to all the unfamiliar sounds happening in the campground, it was nice to fall asleep to the sound of the waves.
There are lots of beach access roads throughout the town so getting to the beach is an easy task! It is pretty fun being able to drive the truck right out onto the beach and we did have a laugh when we saw cars stuck from driving in the softer sand. We set up our chairs and even grilled lunch right on the beach! The kids enjoyed watching the horse riders.
The beach is huge and goes for miles. There is so much to explore. It was fun watching Odin and Aspen explore the tide pools and hunt for sand dollars! The beach was scattered with lots of pieces of broken sand dollars. We were lucky enough to find a few whole ones. It was a pretty laid back trip and all our time was spent at the beach. We let the kids run wild and get as dirty and wet as they wanted! The sand was so fine and soft with very few rocks. The ones we did find were so smooth!
It just so happened that our trip to Ocean Shores coincided with high temperatures and lots of haze from nearby forest fires inland. With the coastal breeze it made sure that we had plenty of fresh cool air keeping the temperatures down and haze away!
We have watched the sunset and sunrise in some incredible places. There is no better way to start or end your day. Each one is always beautiful and different. Watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean did not disappoint!
So thankful to have been able to watch the sunset two nights in a row at Ocean Shores with my favorite people.
On to the next adventure…
