Hike it Baby!

We discovered Hike it Baby after moving to Washington. I wish we had known about it while living in Minnesota! It is a great non-profit organization dedicated to raising a generation to love the outdoors! There are chapters all over the country and outside the U.S. as well! There are Hike it Baby 30 challenges held 4 times each year. The goal is to hike 30 miles in 30 days and/or be outside for 30 minutes, 3 days a week.

Our personal Goal for the Hike it Baby 30 April Challenge was to hike 30 miles in 30 days and get as much outdoor play as possible!

WE MADE OUR GOAL!

We hiked a total of 40.1 miles and spent 39 hours outside!

The weather was awesome for most of the month! There were a lot of sunny days and a few rainy days too. Sometimes we were lucky enough to get outdoors even on those rainy days. We are even more excited for our first full summer in the PNW after seeing how much we were able to do outdoors this month!

Our hikes with the kids are usually anywhere from 1 mile to 4 miles. We carry them for most of it but also let them get down and explore too!

You can never bring enough snacks for toddlers while hiking…

And sticks make a cranky toddler happy!

We enjoyed bringing friends along while getting our miles in.

You would be surprised how many miles you get by just walking up and down the beach! The kids loved gathering rocks and digging in the sand! Odin even got his kite up for a while!! Point No Point is a favorite spot for sure!

We also did our first hike with the Kitsap Peninsula Hike it Baby chapter! We met up with a small group and did a nice 3 mile hike! It was super fun and good to meet other parents who like to get outdoors with their little ones! We will definitely be going on more hikes and plan to host our own hike!

Thankful for all the beautiful weather this month and being able to get outside to enjoy it as much as we did! Fresh air does the soul good!

On to the next adventure…
